The StrongBodiesTM Program [formerly referred to as StrongWomenTM] is a safe, effective, evidence-based strength training program designed by Dr. Miriam Nelson of Tuft’s University. It helps middle aged and older individuals build muscle, strengthen bones, prevent frailty, improve balance and increase overall physical and mental health. Although the research was done on women, this strength training class is equally beneficial to men and women.
Amanda Miller (Health & Wellness Educator) partners with the Fond du Lac Senior Center to offer two-10 week sessions of the program throughout the entire year. Based on popular demand, the program will expand to include a 3rd session. Miller hopes to train an additional facilitator who will offer a 4th class by this winter.
This 10-week educational and physical activity program meets for 60 minutes, two times per week and will be led by certified StrongBodiesTM trainers, Larry Lewis and Louise Borzcik. The next session is from September 10/11 to November 14/15.
