Lemonopolis: A Virtual Lemonade Day Program for Youth and Their Families

Ron Jakubisin, Positive Youth Development Educator

Lemonade Day in the Fond du Lac area, set for May 2nd, was canceled due to COVID19 and the Safer At Home order to keep everyone safe and healthy. This resulted in Extension canceling their Tuesday night lessons but as the saying goes, ‘When Life Gives You Lemons, Make Lemonade!’

There is an online game called Lemonopolis, which puts youth in control of creating a virtual Lemonade Stand. This virtual world challenges youth to interactively complete all of the steps in starting their own business of running their lemonade stand. There are videos, puzzles, and choices to make to get their stand running! This link shows a short video of how Lemonopolis works: https://lemonadeday.box.com/s/u38wcfya2c7zn5la6d860yd28zep51mb

Lemonopolis is free however, registration is required. New participants are welcomed to join (4th-6th graders & parent/guardians). Those signed up for the Tuesday night classes need to register for Lemonopolis too. Register your child to get login credentials to Lemonopolis by clicking the Register Now button here: https://lemonadeday.org/fond-du-lac-area

The Fond du Lac Lemonade Day sponsor, Envision Greater Fond du Lac, is working with their Lemonade Day planning committee and monitoring the Safer At Home orders to determine if a reschedule date is possible. Ron Jakubisin, Positive Youth Development Educator, is part of their planning committee and will communicate with those who have already registered for lessons held at the Extension office.
