National 4-H week was full of celebrations including the second annual 4-H Fall Kick-Off. All youth leaders and general club leaders were invited to partake in the event to learn from each other, build their facilitation skills, learn about the WI 4-H Marketing plan, and how to support new families.
Tracy Keifenheim, 4-H Program Educator, led different ice breaker activities to demonstrate how youth can lead them at their club meetings. Each club received all the materials for the activities demonstrated due to funding from Compeer Financial.
Jessica Jens, WI 4-H Program Associate Director, was the guest speaker with a presentation on the WI marketing campaign and a journey mapping activity. Each group created a character and gave them a background story. They then mapped out this potential new 4-H member’s first-year experience. The group then presented on each journey. 70% of the participants shared this was their favorite part of the night and how helpful it was to see things through a different lens.
The night wrapped up with club planning and sharing things they were going to try or favorite club activities. The clubs had time to work together to plan out their year and submit their plan.
