Employee training is essential for every business, including the dairy operation.  As dairy operations grown and become larger to meet the demand of an ever growing population, there is a need to high more skilled labor to conduct the everyday operations on a farm. One of those tasks include feeding the dairy herd.

UW-Extension Dairy & Livestock Agent Tina Kohlman partnered with CP Feeds and Diamond V to conduct a Spanish TMR (total mixed ration) Feeder training for 26 dairy workers on a local farm.  Participants learned:

• the fundamentals of the cow’s digestive system
• silage feed management
• push out management
• TMR mixing basics and delivery
• Maintenance and safety
