Fond du Lac County 4-H holds an annual project learning day known as Family Learning Day. The day normally consists of 150 youth and adults attending up to four learning sessions in person on a Saturday. Due to Covid, the planning committee was tasked with planning a modified event to provide this opportunity for learning to area youth. The committee worked with volunteers and committee members to provide Take and Learn Project kits. The kits were put together for youth to do an activity at home to learn about a specific topic. The goal is to provide youth the opportunity to try new experiences and learn new skills. Volunteers and committee members who put the kits together included supplies, instructions, and other resources for youth. The Teen Leaders Association helped with organizing the kits for the drive-through project pick-up.
The youth had over 20 different sessions to select up to three different projects to do at home. Kits varied in topics from Woodworking, Mandala Painting, Cake Decorating, Knot tying, Goat Milk Bath, and so much more. Some of the sessions also had a video or virtual class that went along with the materials and instructions. 210 youth from around the area were able to participate in this educational opportunity. Youth will be picking up their project kits on March 7.
