Hands on Soil Health Program Overview
Come Walk and Talk with Us (Rain or Shine). You will not want to miss this great opportunity to network and ask questions.
Jamie Patton, Senior Outreach Specialist with Nutrient and Pest Management – UW-Madison/UW-Extension will provide basic soil health concepts and how-to engage them in the field concepts such as how to look for compaction, stable aggregates, soil infiltration, and more.
Dr. Loretta Ortiz-Ribbing, UW-Extension Crops & Soils Area Agent Dodge and Fond du Lac Counties will talk about soil microbes and their importance to soil health, as well as give an overview about how to sign up for the Farmers For Healthy Soil-Healthy Water Cover Crops Incentive Program.
Take this opportunity to walk in the field with us and your fellow farmers, network, and ask questions.
Join us for a quick lunch, conversation and a short soil health presentation. Our focus today is to share information and discuss issues related to cover crops this coming season. Get your hands dirty and get a feel for soil health indicators. Check the plots to see how cover crops survived the winter.
There is no cost for this meeting, but please register at https://www.eventbrite.com/e/dodge-county-farmers-spring-field-day-tickets-44158025844?aff=es2\, so we have a head count for the meal. Please spread the word and invite a guest.
