Bacon is Better 4-H Foods Revue

This year the 2022 Foods Revue was held on June 21 and the special ingredient was bacon! There were seven youth who showed off their yummy bacon recipes with ages ranging from a cloverbud to 8th grade. Youth who participate in the Food Revue learn many life skills. Skills include preparing their food and how to set the table to display their food items as well as many culinary skills. There were a variety of entries from desserts to entrées. Youth are judged on their menu plan and the theme of bacon. They are also judged on their table display such as one palace setting, including the printed recipe card for food item, with a placemat or tablecloth, and a centerpiece.

Each category is awarded a best of class and there is an overall best of show winner selected. Maggie P. won best of class for Cloverbuds with her bacon cookies. The best of class for grades 3-5 was Peter J. with an appetizer. Leah M. won best of class for her entrée in grades 6-8. The foods revue also has food photography and centerpiece categories. For food photography, Julia T. won best of class. Leah M. won the centerpiece category as well as the overall best of show award. Congrats to all the participants!
