UW-Extension 4-H Youth Development integrates research, education, and community-based partnerships to help youth learn and practice skills to be productive citizens. There are four essential elements that are critical to a successful learning experience: a sense of belonging, independence, mastery and generosity. It is important that youth feel that they are a valued part of a group. Youth need to know that their opinions matter and they can make a difference. 4-H provides youth with opportunities to pursue their own interests and grow their confidence. Finally in 4-H youth work to improve their community, their country and their world. For more information about 4-H and its national reach, visit https://4-h.org/about/what-is-4-h/.
