As the school year winds down, 4-H is gearing up for an exciting summer filled with hands-on learning and personal growth. June brings a variety of enriching opportunities, including the annual Foods Revue, Cloverbud & Foodie Day Camps, dairy judging practices, Area Animal Science Days, and engaging project meetings. Each experience allows youth to develop new skills while gaining valuable life lessons.
The Foods Revue is more than just cooking—it encourages youth to make mindful, healthy lifestyle choices when selecting a recipe. From meal planning and grocery lists to food safety and kitchen skills, participants gain practical knowledge that extends far beyond the event.
Beyond the kitchen, 4-H camps offer invaluable experiences that foster leadership, problem-solving, and teamwork—all while ensuring plenty of fun.
- Cloverbud Day Camp is specially designed for younger participants, offering engaging, hands-on activities that spark curiosity and build foundational skills. Through games, crafts, and outdoor exploration, youth develop confidence, creativity, and teamwork in a welcoming environment.
- In Cardboard Camp – Transportation Station, youth unleash their creativity by designing and building model planes, trains, and automobiles using everyday materials. This interactive challenge strengthens engineering skills and collaboration.
- STEM Camp – CSI gives young detectives the opportunity to explore crime scene investigation, practicing fingerprinting, code-breaking, and evidence analysis while sharpening their logical reasoning and teamwork.
- Dairy judging provides a unique learning experience where youth evaluate high-quality animals while honing communication, teamwork, and public speaking skills. Older participants build confidence as they present their reasoning in structured evaluations.
Through these experiences, youth build practical life skills, gain confidence, and lay the foundation for future success. In 4-H, learning isn’t just about acquiring knowledge—it’s about growing into capable, resourceful leaders. For more details on upcoming 4-H activities and events, visit: https://fonddulac.extension.wisc.edu/events-activities.
