Oriole Sparks: Fun with Science brought excitement and discovery to local classrooms this fall! Over six weeks, 60 middle and high school students dove into hands-on experiments that made science come alive—building colorful layered drinks to learn about liquid density and exploring real-world applications of scientific concepts. Partnering with Bessie Allen Middle School and Horace Mann High School, this program responded to youth enthusiasm for science by creating opportunities to ignite sparks, strengthen skills, and foster teamwork and problem-solving. Students’ feedback said it all: “This is my favorite class!” and “I love science.” Surveys confirmed that participants tried new things, explored topics they enjoy, and felt heard during group decision-making. By promoting equitable access and experiential learning, Fun with Science continues to inspire curiosity and confidence in the next generation of innovators.
