The Junior Master Gardener Field Trip

The Junior Master Gardener (JMG) families went on their annual summer field trip. This year’s trip was to Green Bay to visit Bay Beach’s Wildlife Sanctuary and the Green Bay Botanical Gardens.

At Bay Beach’s Wildlife Sanctuary, Naturalists presented on animals native to Wisconsin and the area. JMG families were able to interact with live animals and learn why they are important to the natural habitat.

At the Green Bay Botanical Gardens, staff offered a hands-on activity to learn more about the local ponds and wildlife. In addition, JMG families had the opportunity to explore the 47-acre display of gardens and natural areas that include native and exotic flowers and plants, structures, and art work.

The field trip ended with a quick stop at a local ice cream shop to cool down. A total of 47 participants joined the field trip, including JMG kids, parents and grandparents, Boys and Girls Club staff and youth, and Master Gardener volunteers. The feedback was very positive. The JMG group had a very good time on this year’s field trip!
