Congratulations and farewell to our Regional Dairy Educator Tina Kohlman, who took a new position on February 1 in the private sector as a Training and Ag Business Development Manager for one of the world’s leading manufacturers of pumps and pump systems for building services, water management, and groundwater application, in Cedarburg, WI.
Tina has served Extension and the Sheboygan, Ozaukee, Washington, and Fond du Lac Counties for over 24 years developing educational programming and outreach in the areas of calf and heifer management, animal welfare, and herd health. Based on the local needs of our dairy community, Tina led the efforts of developing and implementing the Dairy Workers Skills Training modules, planned the bi-annual Midwest Manure Summit, piloted a middle manager meeting (now called the Becoming Employer of Choice) and Agriculture Safety & Health Bootcamps, and conducted numerous field projects in the areas of manure starch, cost of raising dairy replacements, digital dermatitis, and pre-weaned calf transport. She was also an advocate with the youth, training countless individuals in quality assurance and teaching them how their large animal fair projects connected to real-world agriculture.
Over the years, Tina has developed and delivered over 200 invited presentations, advised 13 agriculture related committees and organizations, and assisted in the merger of Eastern WI DHIC. She has been recognized for her work, including a National Association of County Agricultural Agents Distinguished Service Award, WI State Fair Dairy Hall of Fame Inductee, numerous national and regional communication awards, and Extension’s Program Innovation, Leadership & Responsiveness, and Step Up to the Plate Awards. She has been named as a “Friend” of numerous organizations within the area and state.
