The 4‑H Adult Leader Food Stand isn’t just another fair stand — it is one of the largest fundraisers supporting our countywide 4‑H programs, events, and scholarships. The dollars raised here directly impact what we can offer youth all year long. Right now, the Food Stand Committee needs help.
Several long‑time leaders have stepped back after many years of service, and without additional adults stepping forward, this fundraiser — and the support it provides — is at risk.
This is a shared effort. No one is expected to do it all.
What’s Needed: Join the Food Stand Committee
Ideal committee size: 4–5 adults (or more — the more people helping, the easier it is!)
The goal is to divide tasks so no single person is overwhelmed. The committee meets in the spring and then supports operations leading up to and during fair week.
Ways You Can Help (Choose What Fits You!)
You do not need to do everything. Pick one area that works for your time and comfort level.
Money Handler
- Pick up starting cash and drop off deposits
- Help ensure two people count money nightly
- This role can be shared or backed up by others
Ordering Help (Divided by Supplier)
- Cream puff shells (Festival Foods)
- Bakery items (Town & Country Bakery)
- Meat & dairy (Eden Meat Market)
- Cheese (Baker Cheese Store)
- Grocery runner to pick up perishables and last‑minute items
Ordering is spread across several people — you’d only handle one piece, not all of it.
Health Department Paperwork
- Submit the annual permit (forms and past examples are available)
Fair Week Supervisors / Shift Support
- Be present during a shift to:
- Help organize workers
- Answer questions
- Lend a hand when short‑staffed
- Can include cashiering, food prep, or general problem‑solving
- Extra supervisors = shorter days for everyone
What the Timeline Looks Like
- March–May: Planning meetings & ordering prep
- June–July: Final orders, setup planning, permit submission
- Fair Week: Committee members rotate shifts so no one is there all day, every day
There are checklists, binders, past notes, and Google Drive resources already created — you are not starting from scratch.
Why This Matters
This food stand:
- Funds countywide 4‑H programs
- Supports scholarships
- Helps keep participation costs lower for families
Without enough adults stepping up, these opportunities shrink.
