The Cover Crops Research and Outreach Project, CCROP, a collaboration between the USDA Dairy Forage Research Center, Michael Fields Agriculture Institute, University of Wisconsin Madison Center for Integrated Agriculture Systems and University of Wisconsin-Madison Nutrient and Pest Management (NPM) Program is hosting a three part conversation series in March and April highlighting farmer, outreach, and research efforts to promote soil health and conservation practices in Wisconsin.

Each event  will run from noon to 1 p.m. and is open to all. Registration free but required. Links to participate will be emailed the day prior to each event. Anyone wishing to join and with questions to submit please visit: https://go.wisc.edu/zpuyc2

“COVID-19 created a challenge for people hoping to share experiences and learn at in-person events this spring,” said co-organizer Jamie Patton, Senior Outreach Specialist with the UW-NPM program. “We’re hoping these events will keep the conversations going about conservation efforts in the state.”

The first of the three events, on March 19, will focus on farmer-led projects across Wisconsin, featuring a citizen science cover crop project hosted by CCROP as well as innovative farmer-initiated cover crop and conservation efforts.

The second event, March 26, will focus on outreach strategies to engage diverse audience in cover crops, soil health, and conservation education. This session will provide opportunities for conservation professionals to share their experiences promoting cover crops, soil health, and conservation.

Session three, on April 2, will highlight university and agency research on cover crops and conservation from across Wisconsin.
